ITGLWF Expresses Solidarity with TWARO and UI Zensen
Following the devastating earthquake that struck Japan on March 11 the ITGLWF has conveyed its condolences to its regional office TWARO and its affiliate UI Zensen and its members.
“We wish you strength and courage in dealing with the many problems that UI Zensen and TWARO will face in these difficult times and would like toassistwherever you feel we could make a difference”, said General Secretary Patrick Itschert in a message to ITGLWF President Hisanobu Shimada and Regional Secretary Akiko Gono.
TWARO has expressed its thanks for the many messages of solidarity and support it has received. “In this state of sorrow, your warm solidarity messages give us courage to encounter these difficulties”, said TWARO Secretary Akiko Gono.
The staff of the regional office are unharmed and the offices were not damaged.
UI Zensen has set up a rescue task force to provide financial and personal aid to the affected members and communities, and is currently working to determine the damage suffered by its members.
